Special Message from Superintendent Hopkins

April 21, 2020

Dear EFCTS Families,

As you are well aware, on April 20, 2020, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine ordered all public schools in Ohio to remain physically closed through the end of the school year.

I want all of you to know that while this now poses even greater challenges for our students, staff, and your family, we are now more resolved than ever to provide answers and guidance to what this all means in the weeks to come. While our buildings are closed and we are physically distanced from one another, our staff is committed to providing our students with an exceptional educational experience that will prepare them for their futures. Online learning will continue for the remainder of the school year and the school year will end as scheduled on May 19 for seniors and May 27 for juniors.

Soon we will be providing information and guidance on completing requirements for your career-technical program, an especially important aspect for the Class of 2020. We will be addressing these questions as well as announcing plans to celebrate the Class of 2020 in the coming weeks. We will be holding a virtual Senior Recognition event on May 21, 2020, for our seniors in lieu of hosting a physical ceremony, and we will release details on this in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, we have developed a list of FAQs that answer many questions that you might currently have.  CLICK HERE

Today, we are releasing a special video we had produced using footage of our students and staff over the past couple of years. I think it is important as we navigate through this time with our EFCTS family that we acknowledge the emotional toll it has taken on all of us. We all miss the hustle and bustle of learning that was happening. We all mourn for the events and activities and recognitions that have been canceled. We all miss this place, the physical presence of our students and our campuses being alive with energy.

This video, though, touches on what is more important. While our buildings matter, it’s the people that matter more. And even though we can’t be together physically right now, we remain committed to enriching lives by delivering exceptional career-tech education. It reminds us that We are a community. We are Eastland-Fairfield. And we are all in this together. #EFCTSTogether

Our staff appreciates everyone’s patience and support. Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools will work to provide regular updates to our plan as they develop. At this time, we don’t have all the answers but will continue to provide communication when decisions are made.

This is unchartered territory for all of us so please grant each other a measure of grace as we work to better understand our new normal. We understand this is a stressful time and we have provided mental and emotional wellness resources at eastlandfairfield.com/wellness.aspx.

Our website at eastlandfairfield.com is your go-to resource for updates and important information. We will also use social media and other communication channels to keep you informed. Please stay safe as we continue to move forward.
Take care,

Bonnie Hopkins
Superintendent
