Eastland Career Center qualifies 35 students for BPA State Contest

Eastland Career Center has qualified 35 students for state competition during the Ohio Region 14 Business Professionals of America (BPA) Competition. State competitions will be held in Columbus on March 12 and 13, 2020, during the Ohio BPA State Leadership Conference.

Students who placed during individual regional competitions and advanced to state include:
  • Erica Abbington (Groveport Madison) placed in Database Applications;
  • Alexandria Alvarado-Lujan (Reynoldsburg) placed in Medical Office Procedures;
  • Gabriel Carmo (Pickerington North) placed in Java Programming;
  • Tristan Caron (Hamilton Township) placed in Database Applications;
  • Shaniya Carter (Hamilton Township) placed in Basic Office Systems and Procedures;
  • Morgan Dalton (Hamilton Township) placed in Intermediate Word;
  • Kahari Davis (Groveport Madison) placed in SQL Database Fundamentals;
  • Jeremiah DeLong (Groveport Madison) placed in Visual Basic/C# Programming;
  • Kim Dinh (Reynoldsburg) placed in Fundamental Desktop Publishing;
  • Ashley Flores (Groveport Madison) placed in Medical Office Procedures;
  • James Gayheart (Hamilton Township) placed in Fundamental Spreadsheet;

  • Kiara Williams (Groveport Madison) in Fundamental Word.
Students who placed in team regional competitions and advanced to state include:
  • Michael Curnell (Fairfield Union), Noel Grandy (Canal Winchester), Leah Gwilliams (Reynoldsburg), and KelliWorstall (Millersport) placed in Administrative Support Team;
  • Zachary Francis (Teays Valley), Jonathan Pinkerton (Pickerington North), Raymone Simpkins (Canal Winchester), and Hailey Wike (Groveport Madison) placed in Broadcast News Production Team.
Also, Jayla Neal (Reynoldsburg) will attend the state leadership conference. Neal serves as the treasurer on the Ohio BPA State Officer Team.

BPA is the leading Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology, and other related career fields. The Ohio Association is the second largest state association within BPA with approximately 7,200 secondary and postsecondary members.
