Welding

Program Overview

The Welding program is a full-time, 680-clock hour certificate course. This program provides students the opportunity to be trained in (4) major welding fields: ARC, MIG, TIG, and Flux Core by combining hands-on lab work with classroom training. The students in this program learn structural and pipe welding. Replicating actual job site conditions, instructors lead students through coursework that will allow them to successfully complete American Welding Society qualifications in SMAW (shield metal arc welding), GMAW (gas metal arc welding), GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding), and FCAW (flux-cored arc welding).

Technology Requirements

All necessary technology is provided to students in each classroom and lab during normal class hours. Students who wish to access school email or Canvas (our learning management system) outside of normal class hours will need access to the internet and a personal device.

WorkKeys® Assessment

The WorkKeys® Assessment is administered as part of the registration process. Students will complete the following sections:

Applied Math - critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving techniques.

Graphic Literacy - skills needed to locate and use information from charts, diagrams, etc.

Workplace Documents - ability to understand written text to complete a task.

Each assessment is scored individually on a possible range of <3 - 7.
