As with the medical field in general, the demand for pharmacy technicians is expected to grow faster than the average growth rate over the next decade because of the development of new drugs and a large aging population.
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in providing patients with medication and other healthcare services. This program introduces students to the basics of pharmacy practice in various pharmacy settings. Topics include professionalism, medical terminology, pharmacology, an overview of pharmacy law, and the proper use of drug information resources.
Mix it up.
Students will learn technical procedures for preparing and dispensing drugs in the hospital and retail settings. Topics include drug packaging and labeling, out-patient/hospital dispensing procedures, nonsterile compounding, aseptic technique, sterile compounding, and medication errors.
A dose of knowledge.
Gain valuable, real-world, hands-on experiences including preparation for the Certified Pharmacy Technician exam (CPhT).
